Overview
Approximagely 45 minutes drive from Keekorok airstrip and situated on a secluded and picturesque site, Sand River Mara replicates the heyday of exclusive permanent tented camps of the late 1920’s, in an area renowned for its significant concentrations of big cats, including leopards, cheetahs and lions.
The camp is divided into two separate, but adjoining, campsites, each hosting its own designated dining and public areas, thereby creating an increased sense of exclusivity and privacy.
Game drives take place in custom 4×4 vehicles and Sand River Masai Mara is an ideal destination, at any time of year, for those wishing to enjoy exceptional game viewing.
Delicious meals are served in an array of dining options, including an under canvas restaurant, private and intimate dining options, bush lunches and bush breakfasts. There is a swimming pool and a snooker room. Cultural excursions are also available, and to make that trip really special, hot air balloon safaris over the Masai Mara can also be organised (at extra cost).
Rooms
16 tents, comprising 11 doubles, 4 twins and 1 family tent. 4 tents contain day beds that can be used as extra beds. Each tent is equipped with a safe, toilet, bath, outdoor shower, twin basins, solar-heated water, hairdryer, writing desk and outdoor wooden deck.
