The Amboseli Sopa Lodge is situated in 200 acres of private land, framed perfectly in the foothills of Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro. The lodge is set within mature and wooded gardens, with fragrant frangipanis, colourful bougainvillea and giant cacti which all thrive in these surroundings. The gardens are an ornithologist’s paradise, besides being a temporary home to monkeys, mongooses, squirrels, duikers, the occasional gazelle and once in a while, even an inquisitive leopard. Wildlife is abundant in this wilderness, which continues all the way to the Amboseli National Park, a 20 minute drive from the lodge. Over six hundred breeding species of birds can be found in the park, as well a host of rare and wonderful wildlife. This is also home to the Maasai people, perhaps the world’s most renowned African tribe, who provide an open-air local craft market for guests.

A walkway over a fishpond leads to the the Kibo restaurant opening onto a terrace, where a multi-ethnic combination of European, African and Asian dishes, all made with fresh produce, are served. Wherever possible, all the produce required is sourced from the rich farmland areas nearby, supporting the surrounding agricultural communities.
