It is fanned by a cool breeze from the shores of Lake Naivasha and is watched over in the far distance by the extinct blue volcano of Mount Longonot.

Lake Naivasha is one of only two freshwater lakes in the Kenya Rift Valley. Surrounded by thick papyrus and forests of yellow acacia trees, it is a haven for many animals including giraffes, buffaloes, Colobus monkeys and hippos. 

Olerai House is located on the northern shore of Lake Naivasha.
