Experience the Extraordinary

Discover Kandy

Hidden in Sri Lanka’s central highlands, Kandy is the last capital of the ancient world and one of the island’s most enchanting destinations.

Encircling the ripples of Kandy Lake, the city is a treasure trove of both culture and history. Lying between the Cultural Triangle and the sweeping valleys of the hill country, it can be easily incorporated into any Sri Lanka itinerary – and is well worth it, too.

The Temple of the Sacred Tooth is perhaps the most famous of Kandy’s offerings. Legend tells that this revered site is home to a tooth that belonged to Lord Buddha himself, and is therefore visited by pilgrims from the world over. An arts and crafts market and a gorgeous botanical garden are perfect for afternoons at leisure, while the nearby Cave Temples at Dambulla promise a further dose of mystery.

With lush forestry and colourful buildings providing a striking backdrop and a collection of resorts and boutique hotels serving first-class hospitality, Kandy is quintessentially Sri Lankan in every way.
