chobe bakwena lodge

Chobe Bakwena Lodge is an eco-luxury retreat located on the Chobe River near Kazangula, perfectly positioned for exploring Chobe National Park and accessing Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, and Botswana.

Overview

Chobe Bakwena Lodge is an eco-luxury retreat on the banks of the Chobe River, near the village of Kazangula. Bakwena, meaning ‘people of the crocodile’, are the largest tribe in Botswana.

Botswana is safari country and Bakwena is ideally positioned, 1.5 kms upstream from the meeting place of Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Botswana. The lodge is close to the Chobe National Park and forest reserve, 90 kms from Victoria Falls and Livingstone, 300 kms west of the Okavango Delta and lies due north of the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans.

The personal touch of the owners, Adam and Jen, is apparent throughout, from the hand-selected furniture to the food served at meal times, where simple African-fusion dishes inspired by traditional Setswana cuisine are offered.

Chobe Bakwena Lodge strives to be as eco-friendly as possible. Chalets are built using the ecobeam method, utilizing a pole structure and sandbag infill, a method which has been used around the world and has many distinct advantages. Materials and furniture used are locally sourced and upcycled and solar energy, recycling and composting are high priorities at Bakwena.

On the banks of the Chobe River, close to the Chobe National Park.
Tasty food is served in the dining room or alfresco, and you can quench your thirst in the Rain Tree Bar. The rim-flow swimming pool and main area with its lounge, restaurant and bar overlooking the river provides a relaxed and easy going atmosphere in which to unwind. Activities offered include game drives in the Chobe National Park, river cruises on the Chobe River, fishing trips, bird watching, nature walks, cultural tours and visits to Impalila Island.
